Is the Ford F-150 Better than the Chevy Silverado?

Both the F-150 and the Silverado are great trucks. But if you ask us, yes- the F-150 is a better all-around truck. And we’re not alone. Most of America actually prefers the F-150. Ford’s F-series trucks have been best-sellers for decades, for good reason.

Ford F-150 is Safer

One of the most important factors in our preference is the superior safety of the Ford F-150. Both pickup trucks earned a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, though, gave the Ford top ratings in all of its five crashworthiness categories, while the Chevy only got four out of the five. The Silverado didn’t do as well in the small overlap front category, which is one of the most dangerous and potentially fatal types of crash.

F-150 Offers Better Hauling Capability

The Ford F-150’s maximum payload rating, at 3,270 pounds, is about a thousand pounds better than the Silverado’s. And for awkward items, we love having Ford’s BoxLink system, which allows for flexible, customized tie-down situations.

Discover the Magic of Truly Easy Towing in the Ford F-150

The Chevy does have the ability to tow about 300 pounds more than the Ford- the F-150’s maximum tow rating is 12,200 pounds when properly configured. But towing will never be as easy and convenient as it is in a well-equipped Ford! Ford’s available Pro Trailer Backup Assist is a class-leading, innovative feature that will save you all kinds of parking lot time, even if you’re pretty good with a trailer. There’s also blind spot monitoring for your trailer, which is a huge help on the roads.

F-150 Gives You More Mileage for Your Gas Money

Ford’s 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 will give you better fuel economy than Chevy’s V6 can. With an estimated 24 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city, a V6 EcoBoost F-150 can return pretty good mileage considering how capable the truck is.

We have more to say about the advantages of choosing an F-series truck! If you have questions or aren’t sure which F-150 model would be best for you, don’t hesitate to call or swing by the showroom for a chat. We’d love to show you the benefits that a new Ford F-150 can offer Bethlehem area drivers.
